OK bagged this on ebay last week. Cost me £87 and went for it on a bit of a gamble for the "Sonic" aka pace RC30 forks and the 700C brake adaptors.

There is no denying this frame has lived hard. I have no idea what the frame is but it interests me.

Here are the clues:
1- Mix of fillet brazed (down tube) and Tig welded
2- Ritchey drop outs
3- No canti stops
4- Frame number B00070077
5- Wishbone seat stays
6- Disc tab and additional hose routing (not dual purpose cable/hose) - suggests to me the disc option is a later addition.

The frame looks rough and has loads of paint damage and surface rust but it seems structurally sound on my initial inspection, I am left wondering if it is worth spending any time on, removing the sadly stuck rather nice seat post and giving it a fresh coat of powder.

If any one can shed some info on the rear wheel, cassette, seat post and the rather interesting (possibly ti) stem with its rubber seal between the clamps. I would be appreciative.

It is almost bound to be a taiwan made mass produced branded by any one and their dog frame, but the mix of construction methods and the fact some one has gone to the effort of adding an IS disc mount interests me.

Oh by the way...the prize is a possible warm feeling inside.

Xero is the manufacturer :)

but look for (from a quick search)

formula xero XR-2

Are you sure the down is fillet brazed and not just filed smoother ?

drop out make it mid to late 90's +
Forward part of bike Q/R seatbolt bit is typical of early late80 early90's

It's a bastardised bike

Seatpost is ritchey and a normal one.
stem is bodged on to fit on a smaller steerer.

.. carhartt have a BMX team, though will not stream properly here :(
never heard of them but seems to be a clothing company

The down tube is definitely brazed, you can see the gold coloured braze where the paint has come off under the BB.

I dont for a second think that any of the stickers are original. You may be right on the stem, the steerer is 1 1/8th but the stem is a very lose fit until (over) tightened. But the rubber seal is still interesting and seems to be original (moulded to the shape of the stem)

It certainly is a bitsa bike, but should provide enough parts to make it worthwhile.

Pictures of the gold braze bits (more out of interest)?

I would say the seat post was hammered in as was too big ? that and the clamping area is now bent

I don't remember Sunn doing a wishboned frame (but could be miles out) lack of a seat collar shout be a giveaway but it's not helping me...

Just to throw a spanner in the works - I have seen an orange (I am not suggesting this is an orange), freshly stripped of it's original paint that had braze on top of tig - I can only presume it was to hide / strengthen a dodgy weld ? :?
