My new project arrived today (Thanks Khane ;) )
a Specialized FSR, with a little mystery, it's possibly a pro, possibly an elite
i feel it's the pro due to lack of disc mount on the rear,
but the shock must have been changed at some point to the one off the elite

i was planning to powdercoat it and start from scratch.but the anodized finish on it is in near perfect condition so i would feel guilty doing this
so...
1. what colourscheme do i go for wit the components (i am wanting to go with up to date stuff rather than period components)
2. does anyone have a spare seatstay with a disc mount
3. does anyone know of a rear disc adapter which is suitable (apart from the excellent yet expensive Brake Therapy which i might end up with yet) as i hear the A2Z wont work with a slightly angled dropout

black?
i do thinkthat this colour goes with anything though
i suggest something a bit darker
possibly primary colour (depends on availabilty, price etc. )

glad you like it Loz.
however i do believe it is the elite with the shock being stock componentry.

http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/Bike ... &Type=bike

i think all the frames were the same they just had different shocks and decals being the only difference in the frames.

obviously they all have better/worse components than each other though.

as for the disc mounts you do see them come up on some specialized FSRs of this age, i had one in my ebay watch list the other day i wanted it purely for the disc mount, the guy pulled the auction before the end -_-'

glad you like it :D

but i'm glad you like it :D

the elite had disc brakes as standard, the pro had Vs.
this has no disc mount.... yet ;)
both were the same price, just different spec components and shocks
can't wait to get going on the build, been looking at forks all night on ebay etc

as for the vote.

i say keep it silver i know first hand how nice the finish is on the frame and it would be a shame to lose it under some paint.

oh yeah dont paint over the original silver
i was thinking all black components
not gold though
for i am not a fan!
