Volunteer Trailbuilding in Yorkshire- SingletrAction

Many of you will have riden the trails of Dalby and Gisburn. Some of you might even have riden Guisbro, Silton or Stainburn.

Well here is your chance to put a little back in.

SingletrAction started around 10 years ago building trails in Dalby Forest. they now have several projects on the go across Yorkshire (and as half of Gisburn is in Lancashire, we have to give the Red Rose County a shout).
They are a well organised Volunteer Trailbuilding Group that work with Forest Enterprise.

SingletrAction is affiliated to IMBA and work using their standards of sustainable, natural trails that cause minimum disturbance to the landscape and give maximum fun on the bike.

In the short time that they've been running they have already become the official Yorkshire mountain biking point of contact for Forest Enterprise, North York Moors National Park, Yorkshire Water, British Horse Society and English Heritage.

By working with these organisations they are already seeing a radical change in thinking as mountain bikers are seen in a positive light rather than a damn nuisance. They've already restored several routes to premium grin guaranteeing standard and designed and built what will be one of the most technically demanding permanent downhill courses in the north. They are also involved in opening new routes and solving local access problems and forging strong alliances for the future in the process.

Everyones favourite Sticker Guru Gil_M and NE&YORKS Regular Ian_S are both heavily involved with SingletrAction and I'm sure both will tell you how important the work of the group is (as well as how much fun the dig days can be).

As an added bonus to joining in with the dig days, members get a annual pass for Dalby (saving £7 per visit!) and a good number of discounts from the Group's sponsors including Hope, Pace and several local bike shops.

So, take a look at the site and if you can spare a few days a year to help out, please join up.

Just remember- We reap what we sow!
