Well... I did some digging from my stash and found X9 mech, FSA cranks and Hope Mini and Mono brakes.

I would like to do 1x9, but does it need some chainguide on the front?

Yes

Single chainring with MRP or Pauls chain device or single ring with bashguard/outer and something up aginst the ring on the inside to stop it coming off.

Sure there'll be plenty of pics of variations on chain guides coming soon...here's mine for starters!

i have tried the paul and dobbel bash guard, but i liked the jump-stop/bash the best..

Looking very nice, glad you are losing the front mech though, and IMHO think it would look neater with a single grip shifter

Beatuiful bike though and really strange even the mudguards look right :shock:
