New Chain

My funcky Marin that i am made up with has one problem the guy i bought it from has had a new chain put on it and no new cassette therefore when riding it can be a bit jumpy need 7 speed cassette can i get a decent one anywhere,
also its stxrc rear mech wasnt that an 8 speed mech or am i wrong

7 speed mech = 8 speed mech

I got a 7 speed HG70 shimano one from edinburgh bike coop - pretty much rrp though.

I use SRAM PC68 - excellent strong 8 speed chain, pick them up for a reasonable price on Ebay

i might try to make do for a mionth as its only for on road use at the mo, and next month get a lx/xt groupset for it
