Interesting and very useful. I used to like these surveys of equipment that they did. I've got some somewhere on hubs, rims, tyres etc.

But beware of cheap Jubilee mechs! You have been warned!

I'm planning to scan all the pages. The mag is just slightly bigger than A4, so it's a bit of a pain to scan; I have to scan in two halves and then join them together. Plus the pages are quite yellow now, and needs image editing.

Anyway this is particularly good issue; we've had the excellent cover photos of Hinault and Phil Bayton, the round up of gears and freewheels (note the Shimano 6 speed cassette hub, in 1979). Still to come (God I hate that phrase, on TV news or "magazine" type programmes, they say it every other bleeding minute, or "coming up", half the programme is made up of telling you what's coming up next):

Bringing this post up from the past as I found it on Google looking for pics of Phil Bayton during his Dawes / Shimano Dra Ace days.....

I'm putting together my Bob jackson (thread on here) but thought about getting my road bike (Falcon) of the same 70's era sorted but as Phil "the engine" Bayton was my road idol at the time I thought I'd try and track down a replica of his bike.....

Cheaper than a Raleigh Special Bikes Division (Knetterman, Raas, zooetemelk etc) to put together LOL

I wonder what his 'Dawes' actually was?

On reflection I'm not sure, he was with Bantel but before that a Raleigh driver.....maybe he kept his Raleigh kit and had it finished in dawes colours.

I'll try and hunt down a few more pics
