just bought this a few days ago, have to go and collect it from london, the vendor had bought a job lot from italy..he also has a colnago on a 450 b.i.n.. I paid £103 for the olympia. seems ok, campag parts, nothing special but I liked the lug work and pantographed stem and chainset.

Has anyone got any info on the brand, model or if you think it was a good buy or not? any positive input is appreciated...

One off, if not the oldest italian bike brand.
I saw it on e-bay and was tempted myself, with the chrome lugwork and the pantographed parts, defo a high end model. Love to see it, with wheels in, and some drop bars.
Post some pics, when you get it home.

olympique

When I googled it I found that they were the 2nd oldest brand in Italy. Apparently they have not been a force since the eighties. I am not sure whether or not to put some drop bars on it. I like to keep bikes as original as possible. It appears that this was always set up as a roadbike with flat bars.I will see when I get it..maybe a good brooks on it with a campag super record rear mech and some decent pedals with the drop bars..we will see.

pics of the olympia, i was very pleased by the pantographed seat post and the lugs came up great with some wire wooling..stuck some campag record hubbed wheels on it and pedalled it back to the station.

Looking good, i like it a lot. Love to see more pics, when it's fully built up.

Nice to see your other bikes, doing a bit of sunbathing in the garden. .

ha..I have to take these bikes out all the time just to get to the ones i want to see..last count i have 42 ..10 are keepers the rest are for sale..i would love to get rid of them all, there is no room left!!

That's come up nicely. It's good to see an Italian frame with mudguard eyes - why can't you buy such a thing nowadays? I was wondering, what's the thing clamped to the downtube near the chainset?

I think you've bagged a good buy there.

Mark.

it looks to be a chainguard holder..there is also light bracket with olympia engraved where the headset is..god knows where I am gonna find these parts!

pedalled the bike about the other day..it is super lightweight!

My first quality racing bike was an Olympia back in the mid-70's. I subsequently fell for a Colnago and sold it to finance the purchase. In comparison, teh Colnago was a real disappointment. Yours is a bit newer than the one that I had, likely from the early 80's.
