Bottom bracket woes

Ah.

I reckon i need a can of that stuff my mate uses in his garage. He sprays it on and it instantly loosens up any joints. Awesome.

Good tips people but going near a frame with a heatgun is suicide!!!

Easing fluid

"Plus Gas" used to BE the stuff, a couple of good squirts every 20 minutes for an hour should do, then bolt the tool up to the cups with the axle bolts, then I use a 15 inch shifting key, with the bike still upright on a set of wheels/tyres. Don't use a heat gun or flame on the BB shell, but boiling water, or a decent hairdryer can sometimes just epand the shell enough to break the seize.
Moral: I alway use loads of Teflon grease to assemble, Black Gold used to be the best, sadly no longer available. You could actually not remove this stuff with a hot jet wash, as it was designed to seal North Sea Oil rig bearings under the sea! you couldn't get it off your hands either! It was sold as Jet wash proof.
