Retro Helmets! (I'll show you mine if you show me yours ;) )

I still have my Giro Hammerhead (like the one in Fluffychickens post) in its box at my parents house. I think it dates from 1991.

I bought it in 93 or 94 ( i dont remember exactly) and it went well with my SCOTT SuperLite i had back then.
Its quite beat up, but i still love it and occasionally ride it.

My retro helmets

Hi Guys, these are my retro helmets: A Specialized sub 6 pro with Troy Lee Designs peak and a Bell 'reebok pump' Avalanche. Just got the Bell Avalanche off ebay for £12! In my opinion, these are the 2 best retro helmets you could get back then. Enjoy.

Mine looks battered, but it was very well used, and stickered for sponsors.... pretty sure this was the helmet I wore @ Metabief '93

I've still got most of my old gear from 10 - 12 years ago. A Giro Gila helmet in black, cream and metallic green. A pair of Pace DH trousers, a pair of Fox/ Specialized trousers, quite a few fox racing jerseys and a White Brothers - Zzyzx jersey which I got from Jerry Dyer at Bike '99.

giro exodus rl never seen an other one of these i used to droul over these bitd but i only ever seen orange ones.i payed a £10 for it about 3/4 yrs ago from a chap that had never worn it and i,ve only worn it twice.

i think retro lids may not be the best idea ever, read this quote from MET;

"We are often asked 'For how long is a helmet safe?', or 'how often should I replace my helmet?”' Until now it has been difficult to find any reliable figures to help answer these queries. MET have now developed a series of tests which are conducted on aged helmets to determine a 'best before' date (unless the helmet is involved in an accident. In that case it should be replaced immediately.). The results indicate that, if used properly accordingly to our owner manual, our helmets will still do their job up to eight years after they have been made. Not only is that good news for the customer, it’s great news for the environment!"

it would be horrible if some one got hurt for no reason, just my view though...do what ever you want..

Hi, just got myself a 1997 i think trexel troy lee helmet. It was one of only 5000 made so real nice! Also got a couple of old troy lee shoei helmets! What you think???
