1990 Marin Eldridge Grade - NeonYellow&NeonPinkSplatter!

1990 Marin Eldridge Grade

Just pulled mine out of retirement. Mostly stock. Replaced bars, brake/shift group and tires. Put about 100 miles on it in 3 days. Mostly dirt trails. Feels good. Am considering a suspension fork as my arms are 43 years old. I've heard people say it throws off the geometry of the frame, but I am not a serious, hard-core rider. Any ideas/suggestions on a fork? Thanks in advance.

Don't go with anything with travel more than 80mm, 63mm is better!

Long forks really foul up the handling, you don't have to be an expert to feel the steering all sluggish.

sideshowhaas: Nice colorway! It looks like you have the original Marin/Kalloy seatpost, too. Can you please tell me if the seatpost diameter written on your post is really 29,5 like mine?
I have bought a Marzocchi XC 400 for my Eldridge Grade but decided to keep my Spinner fork. If you want to take a look check the fork in my for sale thread. Maybe there is a discount for a Eldridge Grade rider. ;)

I know it's been a little while and i don't know if there is still anybody out there who is really interested in this thread after three years with no update but who knows how long we will be here on this great earth so now is the time to get on with this thread while i'm still alive. :)
Remember the Campagnolo Mirox rims i found in my cellar? I bought some DT Swiss spokes and nipples, refurbishes my rear Ringlé hub and tried to remember how i fitted this all together the last time in the ninties.

To add more turqouise in places where no one can ever see i used a nice Schwalbe rim tape. :)

Back in the days i had some Panaracers on this bike so it was the right thing to do to put some new Panaracers on this wheelset.
The tubes are Schwalbe matching the rim tape.

That's all for now. It's still a long way to go to get my Eldridge back to a mountain top but with your help i'll get there.

...loving the campag wheels with the smoke/dart combo pure wheel porn in my opinion! Gotta love the black rim/amber wall thang!
