added some nice Hope M4 tech brakes which i can assure you are better than the standard set up V brakes some ODI(Yeti Grips)

To go with the Hope Brakes i have the Pro 2 reds with matching skewers and the blue floating rotors

I opted for MTX 33 sunn rims with the original specialised tyres but the tyres are only a stop gap till my white Rocket Rons arrive

Other bikes i have owned are

AlpineStars Al-Mega DX
AlpineStars Cro-Mega LX
Gary Fisher MT Tam

My wishlist would be the three above again i sold them before i knew any better :(
Manitou fs
Yeti ARC
AlpineStars Ti-Mega
Klein Attitude or come to think about it most Kleins
Pace rc200

too many more to list really

Also a 2004 Spec with more than its fair share of "updates"

Nice Bike

Like the forks always loved Pace stuff i dont know about you but the 04's were not very well specced

have a mint set of Middleburn Rs3's with full set of Pace rings really thinking about fitting them to my Epic after my local bike shop said with a different bottom bracket they could fit

and on another note my white tyres have arrived thank you Schwalbe there not Onza's but they will do !

I'll say. All that's original on this frame is the rear shock! Guy I bought the frame from was throwing in the manitou forks but I told him to bin them and save the postage. But he'd upgraded pretty much everything before selling it too!

Upgraded rear linkage to the BETD one - giving the option of 100mm or 130mm rear end. RC40s are also adjustable so I can run as 100mm both ends or 130mm both ends. Added bonus when running 130 at the rear is you can drop the front end for climbs, which was a godsend on the 8km ascents I was doing in France the last couple of weeks.

RS3s - you just need a 113mm BB. Don't expect the Pace rings to shift very well though. And depending on chainring size - you may have issues with your front mech too. Functionwise - how about just fitting SLX?

How are you finding the Hope Techs? Found my minis to be a bit weedy on the descents this time round.

hope tech and middleburn

the hope tech's are responding quite well took a while to fine tune them though, first time out thought they were going to kill me. glad i went for the M4's they are pretty strong when they need to be.

as for the middle-burns with pace rings, i completely concur the shifting was difficult when i had them on my Gary Fisher and that was only 21 speed. had a massive large chain-ring then though.

but still have a 50 on them now though but do have a spare 46 if its too bad.

have you always liked specialized bikes, im looking at an S Works M2 at the mo but not sure if its worth the hassle it will need lots of work and its got some chain suck issue's pretty scored up no cracks though

That's nice, still think specialized have always made good looking full suspension bikes :D

johnnypie..... Thats a real nice bike !! im liking it a lot, I clicked on the thread as i used to own a 2004 fsr stumpy...

Dbmtb..... im gutted i sold it !! I must say it looks sweeeeet, nice build

cheers magicmistertea i have owned this bike from new and apart from some problems with the brain rear shock gizmo its been one of the best bikes i have ever owned

quite like this frame and its soooooooooooo light easton seatpost and saint front mech going to use all the parts that came off the Epic to rebuild this Fisher all i need are suitable front forks

Cant decide between white legged fox's or rock shox or build an ultralight bike using pace rigid carbon forks would appreciate peoples input on this one
