Never, EVER, dare to repaint it! It's in a way too good condition to fettle about with. Give it the oily rag treatment and it will be fine forever. Clean it, buff it, wax it, maybe a little sewing machine oil or even better, white vasoline on a soft cotton rag, wipe off excess and presto. But paint? Kidding, right?
