Prophete Frame

Retro Newbie
Hi

First post. I;ve been looking at the forum for a while and found the info great. Wondering if you can help. I found an old bike (stored in a friend's dad's house for the last 20 years.

The frame has the badge 'Prophete' on it says frame builder since 1908 I think.

The bike has 'CLIPPER' on the downtube with 'Lexus Sport' on the cross bar

Guy reckons it's about 30 years old. I;ve done a search on google but can find nothing on it at all. Anyone know anything about the frame maker or the bike.

Would be interested to know any history of the manufacturer. Intend to keep it original and use it for scooting around town.

Cheers,
Bryan

further looking suggests the bike is German in origin going by the language. The frame badge has a peeny farthing logo

It is actually a luxus sport not lexus sport

the chainset is Sachs...anyone know about them?

Thanks mate...found that wiki link this morning. seems they done mass market bikes for supermarkets etc...mind you being german i'm sure that meant quality at low price rather than asda and tesco crap we see today in the UK supermarkets. however i think it confirms it wasn't a high end maker that's for sure haha

Thanks for your help
Bryan
