No, I love the feel of v-brakes with canti-levers (especially the XTR STIs with their specific pull range with more power at the end of the stroke). I much prefer this to an on/off feel in the brakes, and the power you get with this setup is incredible.
It only works on road though, due to the tight clearance you need between pads and rim, mud would get in the way too much (you need a perfectly true rim too, I broke a spoke on mine the other day and had to de-tension the brake which was rubbing). Also the additional grip you get with knobblies makes the braking dangerous off-road - I tried it once and kept being close to OTB.
