Geoff - get yourself over for sunday. 
Kev - nah, wasn't sunday. we went to the local north downs in the end, they dragged me out moaning and yawning for an afternoon of wetness and nasuia!
Tintin - Yup, change forks almost as often as jackets.
Long - Nice part of the world, thanks. I'm sure the peaks are more stunning.

great reminder
before i left blighty i decided i really ought to have a crack at the south downs way, so without much of a plan i got up early one Sunday caught the train out of London and started pedalling...gorgeous day, probably too hot, but who cared.
Kept pedalling, the day disappeared and by about 6pm that night I could pedal no more...luckily I expired about 20 miles from my parents house. Quick phone call, rescue party for tired cyclist, great ride.
