Terms for bikes...

Call mine "old girl" sort of like an ageing pet dog, even though have the time I refer to it as a male.... all just depends on my frame of mind and if I am riding within earshot of other people.

It has way more personality than "bike" and it has been with me longer than my wife and kids so I am bound to get personally attached to it.

I understand others might think I'm a wierd but there are so many other reasons to think that.

Mine are called The Road Bike, The Marin or The Scott.

One occasion is where my front mech failed me whilst grovelling up a hill ... temporarily re-christened within the phrase 'come on, you f**king pile of dogs**t!'

Things like Rig and Steed are all a bit too 'Yoo-Ess-Ay' for me. :?

i use the frame number. So 409 first ride, 245 work ride/spare bike, 393 ongoing project/spare frame and 230 dust collector.

I'm terrible for doing this too 'using the salsa/kona etc' I'm not sure why either as a guy from work always used to say 'my subaru' this and 'the subaru' that and it sounded pretty lame.

I call mine...

Genesis; the "going along-er"
Raleigh; the "going up-er"
DMR; the "going down-er"

HTH!

Rig is indeed lame.
