Bicyclemania challenge 13.06.10

i fancy trying an "event" but put off by the price to be honest. good luck though andy. if i hear any laughing/shouting/swearing wafting towards brigg i'll assume its you

Great event, will keep doing them seen as it's so local!

Managed a respectable 4h7mins over the 41.5 miles

The 1st 20 miles everyone seemed to be overtaking me, then after 20 miles I was overtaking folks & no one overtook me. Got a good turn of speed in on some familiar sections round Ravendale, Wold Newton & Binbrook

Weather held off till just after I finished, but did get wet helping dismantle all the Cube promo stuff (big gazebo, feather banners, bikes, catalogues...)

Beat the other mechanic from work by ~15 mins & the gaffer by ~30 mins, mission accomplished :D

Just like a Retrobike ride everyone was friendly, saw a Proflex, a Pace RC200F8 & plenty of retro Kona's, might be worth making it into a Retrobike event & getting those retro riders who were there on board the forum, I would have promoted RB but there wasn't much time in between cursing the bloody hills, cursing the cramp & general profanities....

Since we have the route and can modify it.

Is it worth a RetroBike outing around it. At a more leisurely pace ?

We could do 40miles round Lincs no problem, though over a longer day than normal.

Some good singletrack & doubletrack, a few wooded sections & a good bit of road work on the BM route, some stunning views too

Maybe we could cut some of the road stuff out & have a decent longish ride at a more leisurely pace? Need to have a good look at the map to see what we could do.

The BM route does pass within 100yds of someone's folks house in East Ravendale ;)

Always up for a bimble, working a 6 day week for a fortnight so will need some stress relief in the form of singletrack :D
