Ball Bearing question

what can I say, sorry! I'm looking for a reputable dealer of various sizes ball bearings, of tip top quality to refurb my bike ;)

i would get down to your local bike shop and get some from there...ball bearings come in packs and pretty much standard quality...or alternatively, get yerself a new BB with new spindle bearings cups etc. I know you want your bike original though.... ;)

Mount the balls without the ring! 11 1/4 balls will fit into a Bottom Bracket.

In another thread I read you need rubber thingies. Ernie sells complete cup assemblies => http://www.bikeboosting.nl/index.php?id=162,0,0,1,0,0

Do you mean I don't need the rubber gaiters for my BB? Don't they keep the crud from getting in?

'Gaiters': For the good understanding (I am non native English speaking) with Gaiters you mean the seals that fit round the axle in the cups to prevent dirt from outside coming in???

If so, yes you should mount them.

What you shouldn't mount is the steel ring in which the balls normally fit. Mount the balls without the stupid steel ring. They move freely now. Waaay better!
