Specialized S Works Steel 1995-final-pics p3

bike has arrived from the swiss mountains ;)

a few paint chips but still OK ( difficult to touch up as the grey has a slight purplish fade :? )

found the seatpost internal tube with some rust :?

what should I be wary of in this regards ? are these frames prone to rust ?

Thought that the fork would be 1 1/8 but it is definitely a 1 inch ( with a nice CK no logo headset  )

When did specialized change forks from 1 to 1 1/8 inch ? I thought it was 95 ?

Cleaning has started  ( nitto specialized post being "renovated")

I spoke to argos cycles about s-works steel frames earlier this year. apparently the deep section chainstays are pretty thin & the area to check for rust. if theres any bubbling paint, get a pen knife & gently scrape the paint off.

luckily no visible bubbling paint at first inspection.

hopefully, limited to seattube - bottom of seatpost was actually slightly "attacked" by rust points

will see better when bottom bracket will be removed

This frame, I wanted it and I have it never finds.
I just have find the same but the color Bordeaux.

I tried above the FSX-mag21 and the FSX / Judy, only mag21 is doable(playable) for me because the divers and the sheaths are of the size of the tubes of the frame.

However, if you find the fork stiff steel identical to the frame !

In term of group, a full house XTR M900 as on Epic, M2, FSR would be great because he is discreet and he would allow to emphasize this frame.

Finally, in brief, it was my idea of assembly and ................... it is your frame ! ;)

well not trying to do a race as I know I won't win ;)

but gathering the parts :)

need to touch up the frame paint chips
built the wheels with nice NOS XTR M910 hubs and 217 rims
NOS spe tyres
bar on its way from UK
suspended fork with a bit of carbon will be a bit longer
rings are XT but find them quite OK :?:
need to find the seatpost binder and some grips b ut do not know what to choose :?

a bit of progress

but need to find a 1 inch T for the fsx :?

a bit surprised too as I could not fit the XTR canti on the pace as the backside hits the fork brace

hope the spe bar is safely underway from the UK

can't help but do a close up of the evo  I will be afraid to sit on this pristine one
love the M910 hub, the prettiest shimano hub of the 90' in my humble opinion
