More or less, yes

This is a pic from halfway the build => click. Needed some parts there. For example a ControlTech stem is a nice stem, but not for that build. DH3s outperform a Judy handsdown, but HBall wasn't sponsored by Marzocchi. Moreover my bike has trick brakes (purple Graftons), but I am pretty unsure on whether HBall ever used those. That's where it goes wrong with my accuracy :LOL: What is accurate is the explosion of colours.
 
Looks like you had a decent start there Mel. Get a Mag 21 Ti, and keep sourcing the Ringle parts. The only tough item there to me would be the purple Onza HOs... never seen a pair other than in this bike.

Threads like this fill me with both highs and lows, high that the fire still burns in some of us wanting to recreate the great MTB era with such fab bikes and the lows, when I see all the garbage bikes on the market today. As one member says, this bike marked the start of the "end."

Now im one for a good old dose of nostalgia, but with regards to DH, there was never an "end". As with a lot of minorty sports, they all have highs & lows, & right now DH is on a high, & will be for awhile to come..

as for the garbage bikes of today, they are about, but that is down to bike mfr's meeting demand for people having higher aspirations then ever before. It will pan out in time, but technology wise mtb's have a huge future, (read page 131 of the latest dirt magazine) but the retro bikes are retro bikes, & things change :D
 
The End

Sorry there wasn't saying the end for DH, as a sport, but the end for quality bikes in general! (DH has evolved, but is very specialist now and still great) part of the throwaway society I suppose. Surprising how many twenty somethings are amazed at how light my "old Bikes" are compared to their latest incarnations, then even more grieved when they can't keep up with the guy twice their age (don't let on I was a ultra fell and County XC runner for over 20 years!-still got some of the fitness left in my legs, a similar time as an MC TX rider helps the bike handling skills a bit too.)
