Ooh, nice bike! And that front hub is beautiful...
Can I ask, what rims are you running to get away with those tyres?

velocity p35 29er mtb rims. 35mm wide black and 29er......exactly what i needed.

(i really need to get a picture of the lack of tyre clearance)

I always forget about 29ers! Thanks for the info though and I'm not surprised your dad loves it!

the more I look at it, the more I like it

by the way, what is the width of the rear hub ?
what is the exact ref of the hub ?
front hub is 100mm ?

did you have to "adjust" the frame width ?
what was the donor frame ? was it heavy or better ?
love the rear shape

what do you have as rear cog and front ring ?

will start to look at similar donor frames
but not every road frame could do the job :?:
because of tyre clearance :?

I don't understand.... I was actually lost for words having seen the first picture, and that doesn't happen to me very often.

Holy sh*t, that is such an amazing turn around and the result is absolutely gorgeous. I am sat here astounded, that's a job very well done there.

ok lots of questions:O

frame was ~ 115mm, so the hub just went in, i didnt cold set it or anything.
Donor frame was a 1930s malvern star frame, frame is heavy as all hell, but so are the rest of bits. complete bike weighs 14.98kg

Rear cog is the supplied sturmey 19t, front crankset is a japanese something or other pulled off a donor 50s bike as the original cranks didnt actually match.

yeah, tyre clearance is a big issue, i had my doubts the tyres would fit.
