folding tyres vs old rims?

I've got some old rims (constrictor "boalloy") and panaracer folding tyres (only ones in stock at the time) - found them hard to fit evenly initially and today i had one slip off.. i realise that rim tech has probably moved on a bit in recent times, but any tips for the old ones?
would i be better off with normal steel bead?

Is there a 'lip' around the inside of the top edge of the rim? Some old rims didn't have one which can be a problem if you inflate to hard.

Avoid folding tyres with older rims. Tyre manufacturers often used to advise "for use with hook-bead rims only". Use wire beads, and don't go overboard on pressure.
