Specilized Limited Edition Stumpjumper

Just been at the local Specialized dealer, they have these limited edition Stumpjumpers in. The Frame and most of the components are based on the 1982 original Stumpjumper, so it looks just like the first one. The components seem to be modern XT though. Looks great, only 700 being made at £1100 each.

I don't think they're selling too well. I noticed an ad in this months MBR offering them for 899.

I saw the bike at the Sea Otter last year.

It's ok, but the parts aren't that great.

Its built in the 'spirit' of the original, but all the parts are new.

The best part on it are the reproduction Ground Control tires, which I think have been getting more attention than the bike...yet Specialized continues to dodge and fumble about re-releasing these tires....which sucks.

Manufacturers have done this in the past, yet everytime the model under-sells..

Be good if Mfrs actually listened to the market place and realised there is a genuine want for retro parts such as the Spec Ground Control, Onza White Porc etc.
