stirring the pot, eh? hilarious!
speaking as a devout hard-tail, single-speed, XC rider and a long(-ish) distance fixed-gear (catholic) roadie, these generalizations are plenty true on our side of the pond as well, i think you'd agree!
to wit:

i have (and wear) a jersey as below.
my wife rides a (pink, with matching helmet) windsor on the road.
bike tech talk? 3hrs re: hubs...easy! ask me about (fixed) gear ratios and the resulting number of skid patches...
just check the avitar...rigid? check. geeky parts? check. peacock colors? check.
