Just coming to the end of my 70's Claud Butler Electron build and I'm wondering what to do about water botlle cages.

The frame doesn't have any bosses on the down/seat tubes for modern style water bottle cages and I figure I'm gonna have to use some clamps to hold cages in place.

Also what do people think about the handlebar mounted option ?

I personally like the look of the handlebar mounted bottle cages on old road bikes and makes them easier to reach if you ride gate like sized frames as I do ;)

I'm tending to favour the front mounted option because as you point out the larger frame sizes of older bikes makes reaching the bottom of the seat tube/down tube quite awkward.

Can anyone recommend a good mounting option for handlebar bottle cages.
