LONG TO MEDIUM

SLIM

BoTM Winner
want to change a long cage rear mech for a medium XT ( or short not sure which it is ? )
will i need to shorten the chain ??

there are also the numbers MAX 32 / TOTAL 33
what do they refer to ??
am running it with an LX microdrive
and an 11 - 28 sprocket , are they compatible ??

It should be fine , but yes you should reduce your chain a bit .
Max 32 means maximum sprocket cant be bigger than 32 teeth ?

ah , cheers chris

thought i had to do some weird calculation of the sprocket X the chainrings or something

Maybe you have , but the best way is to fit it , and try .
I have a medium cage on the yeti and it seems to work fine .
I havent properly tried it yet , that is for sunday .

The MAX 32/ TOTAL 33 refers to max 32 tooth sprocket and 33 total difference.

I.e. 11-32 on the back = 21 difference
22,32,44 up front = 12 difference, so total 33 is ok so long as you are using this on a hardtail.

On full suss. add another couple of teeth to the above to allow for chain growth so not adviseable unless using 12-32 rear or 22,32,42 up front.

With your 11-28 you should be fine up to a 20,32,46 if desired.
