Old School Hero
Bought a NOS unknown frame on ebay a while ago with the intention to build it up with any cheap/karma bits I could find.
However in the search of information to find out what frame it was I found Retrobike... and then I got a couple of other bikes instead and forgot about this frame. Until I decided that I would build a bike up for my girlfriend.
It started with this:
It of course needed some paint. I asked my girlfriend what she would like, pink and gold... then I looked into my other passion to find inspiration, VW cars form the 70's and 80's
I decided for the colours, from 1970's Golf, and took the frame to a mate that would paint it.
During the time he had the frame I searched more for information and found out that it probably was a Centurion Backfire Team. After contact with Centurion in Germany they confirmed that it was a Backfire produced in 1993 and they were kind enough to send scans from the catalogues from 93 and 94.
The specs for the 94 model is my inspiration for this build:
Funny enough the yellow/white 93 version did have almost exactly the same "artwork" as I decided for my frame, only in other colours.
Last week I got the frame back form painting and I am more than happy with the result!
