Here's what you can do with a bit of patience, some cheap forum parts and a months worth of tip finds:

RED is purchased items, BLUE is from the tip

Bars/ Stem - Bontrager Select oversized

Headset - Ahead all alloy 1"

Forks - All alloy ahead 1"

Wheels - Bontrager front, Alex rear

Chainset - Tiagra splined with Dura Ace 53t outer and HS-70 (?) BB

F&R mech - Sora/ Tiagra

Seatpost - Kalloy

Seat - kevlar Selle thingy

Callipers - Shimano 600

Levers - Shimano 500 sport

DT levers - Shimano 105 7spd

Tires - Specialized Pro

The frame was a P&P cost karma from CTK and bits just sort of arrived as needed. I've left the wide range cassette and bought the long cage mech to make it an all-day fast roadie. Two yellow bottle cages to come and some cables/ bar tape and headset spacers on their way.

Its all very light too.

Total costs - £45 all in

Who throws out stuff like that and where can I find it :?
It is a nice looking bike though for the budget.

I got my daily 1980 Raleigh Magnum (not the BMX but the cheap tourer) complete and in good nick off of ebay for £12. It's a gas-pipe bike but it's a real beater/hack bike so I don't really care.

Just picked up a British Eagle steel frame, age unknown that I plan on doing up on the very cheap, so this post is my inspiration

I did have a road bike that cost me nothing...

Then I bought a new saddle, tyres & brake calipers

Total cost £80, whoops!

pic without the brake upgrade £50:

Oh & the mudguards have now been removed from the bike.
