Cracked cranks? Views please...

Bought these second-hand off another forum and when they arrived there appears to be a crack across the crank arm. Any views? Unfortunately this damage was never described in the for sale advert!

 not good. write back to the seller  I'd say they are useless or fit to garage queen.

Sadly seller refusing to acknowledge it is a crack. Anyone here a specialist in this kind of thing? The reason he gives is damage from a pedal spanner...

The seller is full of it and he probably knows it, he's just trying to pull a swindle. I wouldn't know how to resolve this in a peaceful manner.. People like that are dispicable.

I'd go back on to the other site and blacken his name for all to see

I won't bring it onto here, but all can be read at Veloriders, including seller's name. believe he is also registered on here too, sadly :(

Doesn't look it will ever get resolved amicably. This is the first major problem I've had in hundreds of buys and sells on various forums over the years, so just an unlucky (and fairly expensive) one I guess :(

How can that be caused by a spanner? There would be quite an obvious impact mark, steel hitting aluminium leaves a dent on the aluminium. There is do doubt that is a crack, and if he won't accept that then take it do an engineering shop for a die penetration test or even an xray if you feel like making the point to him.

Definitely a crack  and if you took those to be dye penned or xrayed they would laugh at you. I've had a few deals like this, ideally the seller covers postage but its not uncommon to share costs if its a genuine mistake. Perils of second hand goods and all that.
