~~~ 1990 Brodie Catylst ~~~
Behind Bars
Devout Dirtbag
well....I guess this is my first official "Unofficial" Build thread here at
RetroBike.
Purchased from a good friend of mine about 4 months ago as Frame / Forks / Headset.
And tonight, I began to strip the paint off and get it ready for New Paint Preperation.
Parts list????.... I am not 100% sure yet on exactly which parts I will use on the Build, but it's safe to say that Syncros will be involved.
:D :D :D
Are they 2nd generation Gators with the Spinner dropouts?
'and now for something completly different'
Its not a GT/Kona/ generic MTB - finally something I've not seen before.
Brodies are totally cool, particularly the early ones.....you might be horrified to know that there IS an incestuous link with Kona and Rocky Mountain though :LOL:
Paul Brodie was responsible for the whole 'sloping top tube' concept when he designed and built the first sloping top tube bike, the Avalanche, for RM in 1985 and assisted with design & production on the very early high end Konas, alongside running Brodie, so their heritage is second to none and in my own opinion (waits to get bashed by the Kona Illuminati) these are THE best steel frames to come out of British Columbia :cool:
Yes Neilll, you are correct. Gen. #2 with Spinner Drop-outs.
It may be slow / it may be fast.....the hardest part is making the decisions
on the components . And Paint Color :roll: :roll:
talk soon,
Kev.
