MM - The Learning Curve

I think Neil hit the nail on the head there...all very true, I however think that we should be seen at events everywhere. Im not saying that we should be at every event, but there's more than just MM out there
Sleepless, bike fests, big weekends, the world cup to name a few.
Let the Retro train roll....there's retro bikes hidden in sheds and garages
up and down this land.

My dream is that in 2008 there will be loads of retrobikers riding solo - imagine a dozen or more out on the course at any one time, all in team shirts, cantis squealing as they fight to slow the bikes as they slither down rooty descents, cranks just managing not to snap etc.

It might be a crazy dream but not impossible.

I think Mayhem was excellent from a 'Retrobike' point of view. The Friday evening BBQ was a joy and i would like to thank Mr & Mrs K especially.

I would also like to thank everyone for making my mates, Jimmy & Iain feel so welcome - they both thoroughly enjoyed it and we now have 2 new recruits to the RB family.

The stand was superb and it was great to see so many people stop dead in their tracks. It was like kids in a sweet shop window and brought back a lot of good memories. I apologise that i could not help out more on the stand but as other people have discussed - 'racing' and i use the word loosely, took precedence i'm afraid.

I am also looking forward to the coming months mag articles about the event as i think Geoff's heroics on the first lap are going to cause a stir.

I fully understand what people are saying regarding riding retro - i would have myself if it had been ready - but i also like a bike that helps me ride faster and also stops in all conditions when you want it to - i know that this goes against the grain but it is my personal opinion - 24 hour events beat you up good and proper and i personally need all the help i can get. One or two laps on retro would be fine but a whole event..........i'm just not that hardcore.

I would like to hear Jez's comments on this now that he has ridden a modern full susser in anger.

Stand in main arena was the right thing for sure!! Just was tough as my laps always seemed badly timed to do stand duty for some reason :?

Had every intention of riding retro for a few laps, just never got round to it - should have ridden them first when not so cacky. After first couple of laps, just couldn't bring myself to take out a great nic old bike with no mud clearance and red cranks :cry: sorry..

So what are the other events that we are able to have a presence at then? And when are they?
