I would possibly sell the kids to get a Speedwell like that one. I added it to the road bike gallery as it really is very nice.
 
I first rode a carbon bike in about 1986, just for a couple of miles. None of yer monocoque stuff, this was carbon tubes glued into alloy lugs, might have been an Alan.

Nice to right but it creaked like a front door hinge in Castle Frankenstein! :?

If I had mega-dosh, I'd certainly go for a ti frame rather than a carbon one - didn't Fuji make a ti frame in the late 70s/early 80s?
 
Speedwell Titanium, as used by Luis Ocana in the time trial stages of the TdF lettered as Motobecane (I think!).

Ahead of their time, the world was not ready for such exotica in those days.

They couldn't afford it either!
