Got this at the tip today...

I think the forks have had a hard life....and the brakes look like they have been changed at a later date...

Just wondered if anyone could tell me how old it is....

and if its anything interesting....

back in 1988-89 all i wanted was a muddy fox......

mid 1990's perhaps 95. Shame about the fork. Is the steerer tube weld OK?
 
1991/2 - as ever, to confirm the age of a bicycle - there are clues:

Date stamps on saddles/ stems/ seatposts and sometimes on hubs.

Shimano date codes - every bit of Shimano kit has a letter dater code - google it you lazy biscuits.

300/400/500LX disappeared (and rightly so) after 93.

I'd check the down tube for ripples around the head tube as it could possibly be fooked.
 
'92, '93 The 1991 Models like my Seeker Mega had fatter forks and Wishbone seatstays.

well - actually if you want to take the geekiness level up a notch - the shape of Cateye refelctors changed from year to year - those round ones on mine being from around 91 to 92.

Not as old as I thought then...

serial no. X91 08J929

I've had another closer look at the frame around the headtube...

and it is Fooked....

the tube connecting the headset to the bottom bracket has a ripple, just after the weld at the headset.

didn't notice the bent forks at the tip or the fooked frame..

I just pulled the bike from the pile and stuffed it into the car...

It can go straight in the scrap metal bin this time. after I've stripped it...
