sorry as this has no doubt been asked a hundred times...

126mm 531 frame drop-out
130mm rear wheel OLD

is it ok? should I do the manual cold set with a huge piece of wood as sort-of-recommended by Sheldon Brown?

FYI: I've 126mm Vitus frames with 130mm OLD wheels squeezed in no problem... but I re-spaced hub in the end as it made me nervous ;)

Provided it's not an Alu or Carbon frame.

Also, I hear that cold setting 753 is not a great idea.

Lots of builders would build their frames and then 'nip them up' true afterwards - probably not the best practice in the world, but I'm not sure if it did any harm.

to be honest you can probably just spring the frame slightly as you put the wheel in or even rebuild the hub with slightly thinnner lock nuts or even a bit of both. Or Hang the wheel at head height and put you node between the drop outs. Grab both and pull until it moves a touch. Easy
