South Downs Way Randonnee Bike Rides

Tempted too although the course is 5 minutes from my house at one point and if I do it, I'll end up stopping to have beers in the garden instead.

Rode it just after midsummer last year on a cross bike. Whilst the course isn't that tough per se, it gets pretty wearing - particularly as I was slightly over-geared and my arms were wrecked from braking. The section after Ditchling to Firle Beacon is pretty wearing - repetitive terrain and desperately needed food and drink in Alfriston. Navigation is straight-forward and only managed to get lost from the top of the Downs into Eastbourne. When dry, there were only a couple of sections I couldn't ride up - due to 'marbles' over hard-packed chalk. The best bit was the chip shop opposite the station in Eastbourne! There are few food and drink stops directly on route so ensure you carry enough supplies.
