What chain for 7/8/9 speed combo?

What chain do you reckon for the following;

Modern 9/10 speed chainset
Campag 8 speed Ergos
Sachs 7 speed freewheel

I think a 9 speed is too tight for the 7 speed freewheel. And I think a 7 speed is too sloppy on a modern chainset. So I guess an 8speed then?

What rear mech are you using? I was fine with a 7 speed chain on 9/10 speed chainset with 8-speed Ergos, cassette and rear mech. But when I went to a 9 speed rear mech I had to go with a 9 speed chain.

I run seven / eight speed chains on modern chainsets no problem.

Which shiny chain would you go for? I have to get one for my project and I want something nickel plated or nitrided.

Any suggestions? cos I haven't bought anything other than a Sedis blsck for the last 10 years . . .

Shiny chain? Wippermann Connex 808 every time - nice nickel-plated finish, great wear and shifting qualities too. Priced 16 quid and upwards.
