I probably have a couple of frames in that size range.

Really, I'd try a slightly longer stem on that GT, and refit the drops first. Flat bars will make things worse for you, there.

A top tube length of 59.5mm to 61.1mm :shock: Reckon that may need recalculating as that's extremely long, especially when compared to the seattube length - traditionally bikes were 'square' although in bigger sizes (60cm+ seattube) the top tube tended to be a bit shorter (I have a 62cm with a 57.5cm toptube for example).

Just tried that fit calc myself with quick not very accurate results, just want to say if you then pop to the MTB side of it, hit 'my fit results' (very top right) it'll then give you the MTB ones* I like that little detail of thought.

*(for XC, AM and DH)


Do you get the XC size you would normally ride (XC would be nearest to retrobike sizes)


OK I put them in and it puts you into a custom bike setup as the top tube length is longer than a 21" Kona (from 1997), yet you'll need a low standover height of 30" (20" 1997 Kona).

Probably your stumpy legs and long top half (from your measurements)
I'm ~ same height, notch but lanky 34" legs and stumpy trunk. Seems I fit the 20" Kona fine.

Unfortunately not got a road bike to compare with you.

that GT looks way too small for you - I had a frustrating few months as frame after frame turned out to be way too small.

I found that a seemingly huge (I thought) 58/59cm frame is about right.

I may be interested in the GT size depending, if you came to sell it.

Funny enough Rob, Was looking at the Boardman bikes today and got told that I would need to sell the GT if I wanted another racer

If you're happy to spend that much, maybe you'd be better paying for a professional fitting. With lots of places if you subsequently buy a bike from them you get the price of the fitting knocked off.

Agree that the Pinarello looks strong for Mirage and a non special frame.
