1989 Boulder Suspension bike

I never know what's going to turn up in my files when I'm looking for something else.

This was an early rear-suspension bike called the Boulder, which as far as I know only existed as prototypes.

As you can see, the shock absorber is incorporated into the top tube. It doesn't look very rugged.

Beautiful bikes those, they did get into production as the Boulder Defiant and had quite a good run. Surprisingly they rode really well, some even made it over to Europe (even a Ti version was made: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10271).

Boulder had a fair range of similar bikes at the time and I think their website is still going (although I don't think the company is....)

yup- certainly did get going- as I had a gazelle. Lovely machine. I think I even have spme swingarm bushes knocking around. I'd be in a position to machine copies for anyone requiring them if they have a frame in need of refurb

Found the Boulder literature.
