I made one out of a For Sale sign, some zip ties and bulldog clips. It was fantastic, and I could scribble notes on the board when I needed to (useful when the mind starts to play tricks on you!).
A lot more friendly in a crash than one that's clamped onto your bars and made of rigid plastic.
