Barney, can you buy disk mounts to weld onto the rear triangle or do you have to make them? Suppose it is less risky to get a bike specialist to do it, but I do have access to a rather good welder with worshop...

No compromises, lose the mounts, don't want to powder the thing and then decide to take them off after...

Hmm, you could be right. I'll ponder that a little more. My mate is a pretty nifty frame builder and you can buy the mounts, so I'll get him to put it on there. :)

Hey Barney.

EDIT: Are your hubs the same as mine? I might be able to help you out with suitable rotors. PM me.

I hae a disk tab I fabricated for my 97 Cindercone. I sent it of for brazing and buried the tab in packaging so the guy just made a new one as he couldnt find it! I'll send it on for Karma if your interested.

I can wholeheartedly recommend Steven Shand of www.shandcycles.com to carry out the brazing. He can also do the reinforcing strut and change the guides.

Heres a pic of mine:

I went for having the canti posts cut off and drilled out so I can screw in replaceable canti studs if I ever wish to run V's in future.

Hi Mike, that would be great, I'll PM you my address! The bits are coming together for this build really well now. Quite exciting! :)

No probs man. I'll get it off to you this week. Let me see it brazed on to your frame asap! It tok me lots of hard work to get it perfect so I'd love to see it on a bike put to good use :)

PS: It has elongated mounting holes so fine adjustmens can be made to the caliper position. Does your mate the frame builder have dimensions for IS standard mounts? Theres a PDF diagram on the Hayes site I think (if he needs it)

Hurry up and get it done!!

yep, you're right to go for the disc imo.
as much as i love my '94 build, i can't help thinking that i should've gone the disc route... suppose there's always room for another build.... unless the mrs notices another bike that is....

Right, after assembling nearly all the required parts for this build, a complete bike came along and I can't afford to cross the final hurdle, so it is with much regret that this is going up for sale. :(

If you'd like to accompany me to the for sale thread then we can chat ;)
