will this ruin geometry?

Looking at some suspension forks for my 93 Hei Hei frame............

Purists stop reading now.

I'm currently running pace rc31's with a top of crown to bottom of fork length of 405mm - this seems fine. see pics

I've been offered some forks with travel of 90-130mm. Now clearly running them at 130mm would be ridiculous but if I kept them down to 90mm would I get away with it? I have asked my friend to measure said fox talas rl's fully dialled down & top of crown to bottom of leg measures in at 430mm. Add to that some degree of sag, they should sit roughly the same as my pace?


I'm quite happy with the way the frame sits at mo altho it does sit up a little on it's modern forks if you get me.

Hi mate,

I had an 18" Hei Hei 1996, very simular to yours with the RC31 set up. Before them I was running a set of Marzochi (sp!) Z2's with about 80mm travel with no problems...

I guess the only thing you can do is run the forks and see how they go, I'm sure you'd get away with 90mm!

i run 85-115mm reba u-turns on my 99 king kahuna (originally spec'd w/70mm manitou). at 85mm, no worries. at 115mm it's a laid-back cruiser that doesn't want to go anywhere but straight.

I think you mean originally spec'd with 65mm Marzocchi Z2 Superfly.
