Old School Grand Master
This little fella, a Scapin Pro Race NR series, http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=77173
has arrived from Germany (Thanks Jurgen!) , and I've tried out a few bits and pieces from the parts bin.

According to Scapin, the serial number dates it as a '98/'99, and it takes an 80mm fork, but they have no idea what tubeset it is.
Hmmm... I'm a bit dubious; Even with a 65mm fork , the angles look pretty slack. The chainstays are pretty long, too, though, so maybe it's just meant to be a cruiser...?
Whatever, it is beautifully built, and just about spotless!
Any Scapin experts out there?

I actually think its older than 98 looking at the frame.
I would agree! I can't remember too many '98 bikes having canti guides, and from about '97 on, Scapin utilised wierd shaped snake stays.

In fact, having just tried to fit them, V brakes don't fit at all! The canti hanger is pointing in the wrong direction.

If you're using Vs you won't want the cable going through that noodle anyway. You'll need to come up with some sort of work around as people do with old Konas - clamp-on cable stop on the top tube, or full-length housing from the lever or something.
