Colnago's Latest Retro Offering

At first glance I was wondering how to order on Bike2Work. On subsequent glances I saw the chainset (horror!), stem, spacers and bar shape (can't see that being useful in any setting - long drop and lots of spacers?).

Frame and forks? Yes please?
Rest of bike? No thanks.

It's a fix gear, SO WHY DO THEY FIT IT WITH A BACK BRAKE?!? ARGH IT MAKES ME ANGRY!

Having both front and rear brakes on a fixed wheel bike is perfectly fine, what's the problem? Of course, front brake only is also OK, but it's not the only option.

Looking at this, the Paul Smith Mercian is a far better option for the financially unchallenged.

Or get a Mercian Mercian and save even more money :D

That's what I was getting at. £1399 for a bike with Sugino Messenger cranks and the same generic stem/bars/seat post you get on £300 bikes? I bet it has Tektro brakes and Formula hubs.

For £1200 I'd rather put together my own fixed gear based around a nice 'proper retro' GB built frame.

seems weve been viagrad. yawn.

never seen a real "retro" bike that looks like that, its a modern trendy.
Still, no doubt C will sell a few.
For £1200 I can have a gararge full of genuine retro rides, complete with gnuine paint chips, scratches, and uber-vintage components to authenticate the second-handness.

Brave attempt. I dont like those forks. What happened to graceful curved forks?

Re:

I have it on very good authority that only the Arabesque, the Master and C60 are built and painted in Italy, which most likely means, this is Made in Taiwan
