Having re-read the info Eric gave me (see below) Im going to reassess my previous opinion of that frame and say in a non-committal way that its: "a mid to late 80's Japanese built Ritchey for Rocky Mountain cycles. Probably."
In '84 when Gary Fisher and Tom Ritchey parted ways, Ritchey was left with a product and no one to sell, advertise or distribute it. In the US he found Palo Alto Bikes, which at the time had a large mail order business (as well as being a local shop). In Canada, he some how found Rocky Moutain Cycles. I'm not sure exactly how the relationship worked, but the frame were produced in Japan, distributed by Rocky Mountain, and carried the Rithcey name. At first they were all lugged construction, and build by Toyo (who later built hte P-series frames, and eventually all Ritchey frames). They eventually became TIG welded. I;ve heard several different model names, but don't know how to distinguish them.
Im still going to put my M700 stuff on it though.
We have all learned something today.
