Hi Mike,
Imo the clean optics of the Vitus make it a great start for a fixie or single speed, but I am only wondering how the concept will work with its vertical dropouts in the long run. Will you be kept busy with changing full link for half link and so on.

I had to remove a link in January after building it in October 2008 and while it has loosened since then the chain is still going well. By the time it is too loose again i think it will be time for a new half link chain to be ordered.
Unless I get the rear derailleur hanger rethreaded gears are not an option.

With green (not a first choice but cheap like the budgie) velocity wheels. First step was removing a strip of paint so I could brake effectively in the wet. The back has now been completely denuded of green but I think I will leave the front as is.
The package was a new blind which I had just purchased...

looks like a fun bike to ride and a great commuter, and if that picture of it looking absolutely disgusting is how you got it, then you definately did a great job bringing her back to her former glory with this one. a lot of races were won on vitus/tvt bonded frames back in the day as i recall. little flexy but lighttt

It did indeed look like that fourth photo. Both my lounge room and the bike are much less disgusting now. A friend had grabbed it from the tip shop for $5 New Zealand with 1 decent 700c wolber tub and one rubbish 27 inch wheel.
I am considering going back to drops for a change but I do like the brahma bars, and I can get a slightly lower more stretched position with a 3ttt negative rise quill I have stashed somewhere.

A little flexy
I show people the BB flex sometimes it moves! But it does so evenly through all the tubes and it is nicer to ride for the flex. Regularly checked for de-bonding and cracks. Sods law probably states it will probably choose to do so as I launch from a kerb. But I do wear a brain bucket, perhaps I should invest in a mouth guard.
