$100 does sound a lot. But spilt between two items. Plus if the workman does a perfect job it's money well spent. Better than paying $50 and getting a rubbish job and having to pay to get it done again.
I'm very sorry for any misunderstanding and offense I may have caused. My comment was in no way directed at you. If you read the question and the comment the guy made, I'm sure you would understand why I considered it distasteful.
