Pins and needles in my toes, still, any ideas?

i too get pins and needles in my toes, if i cycle too long, in spd's, not too concerning, but i think its my shoes are too tight

Maybe have a look at Northwave or Specialised insoles. They have lumps under the forefoot to help spread the pressure on this area. I find they vastly improved the comfort of my Sidis.

it cost a lot, but in the end at a proper evaluation from a pediatrist type place (cyclefit, london), it was an official verdict that I have wide feet. They sized me up, and side mega fit, the wide jobbies were just the ticket. I'd just been through 3 other stes of shoes in as many months and the pain was terrible, but the megafit dominators were a treat. There was no hard sell at cyclefit, so I got the shoes on the bay for around £110 IIRC.
All pain gone.

Now have to do the same with my ski boots. . Arrgh!

i have wide feet, and i have to admit as a youngster, i had to play netball, cuz footy boots were too narrow for my little feet.

Could be cyclists hot foot sydrome. If your shoes are too tight the nerves between your metatarsal bones become iritated. I used to suffer with this myself. The cure is when doing up your spd shoes put your full weight on each foot as you tighten them up, this spreads your metatarsals apart which then have room to move when you pedal.
wow that sounds like gold - i suffer from hot spots within about 15 mins of riding -.- its a right bugger!

Agree with the comments about shoe tightness

However sometimes cleat position helps on SPDs - most have some adjustment and a degree of foot rotation.

I get this sometimes and it does vary with different shoes - I also release my foot from the cleats from time to time on a longer ride usually when going downhill to change the foot position which seems to help.
