I was gonna salvage my 1 1/8" Kona Impact headset by using the bottom cup, bearings and race from a new headset. However close inspection has revealed that the locking ring you wind down by hand is knackered. Basically it has completely split where the lock nut tightens in to it so there is no way of locking it tight; hence the headset can (and does) work loose 
Now the stack height is only 33mm, extensive googling/eBaying has thrown up only one headset with a definate stack height this low:

I can't say i like the sound of resin cups!
Someone had mentioned that a Shimano STX might be ok, but these are 38mm.
I thought i read somewhere that old Odyssey Pro headsets were pretty low, anyone have any ideas?
