BACKGROUND
Recently acquired, this was 99% as it left 'Climb on Bikes' in Ludlow, Shropshire in their sale on the 28th April 1999. All that had been changed was the brake cables, chain and saddle. I've swapped the original Tioga tyres for the Panaracer Smoke/Dart Classics and fitted the ubiquitous Flite saddle.
It came with the original sales receipt, GT and Rock Shox manuals:
The condition of the bike is almost flawless, the frame is practically perfect and maintains a factory fresh shine with only one tiny ding on the down-tube. The decals had begun to flake away, as is always the case with ball-burnished GT's because they have no lacquer protection. This was easily solved with some NOS decals bought from the US.
The bike has some nice touches, such as the CNC'd Hadley radially laced front hub which spins forever. The rear hub is also radially laced on the non-drive side.
