A long and boring story sits behind this bike, but basically my dad bought it off my cousin for me when i was 14, i rode it and loved it for a few years and kitted it out with some really nice stuff.

The drive-side chanstay snapped and i replaced the frame with a '98 Caldera and some chav promptly broke into my shed & took the lot....

So 10 years down the line I find this site and decide to restore.

It's taken me about a year to source all the bits. I'm still not finished as i've got an XT front mech on it's way to match the rear, some red bottle cage bolts and thinkin about green chainring bolts :D Also a new seat clamp is in order now i think i've finally found a nice 29.8mm.

New drop-outs & paint by Bob Jackson.
Cheers to Gil_M for ace decals
Many thanks to all on here who supplied other bits!

Anyhow, pics speak louder than words. (please excuse the chainstay protectors, they'll be changed for a nicer one asap)

A pic from todays mini-ride with my mates little Giant. Also how it looked the day it broke about 11 years ago. The pic was taken in the same place as the ones above, ma's garden.

that is beautiful. are your cables a bit on the long side at the front or is it just my failing eyes?

beautiful bike

eee lads, nearly forgot i'd posted this up! the lack of comments had led me to believe there was no love for it! ;)

yes lewis, the cables are a tad on the long side  i was so goddam excited when building it that i couldn't be arsed to sort it out at the time

i've changed a few bits recently, got an xt front mech to match the rear, a period correct cassette and a red seatclamp. also sorted the chainstay protector.

the front brake suffered from seriously bad judder under any kind of braking so i installed one of those cable hangers that bolts onto the fork crown. this has pretty much eliminated it entirely!

cheers for the nice comments, it does mean a lot :D

yeah get your arse in gear young man!

tis a loverly machine BTW how do you find the onza brakes I have heard mixed reports on them?
